ALTERATION AND ADDITION TO EXISTING RESIDENCE IN NORTH YORK

This 4200 sf, 2 storey custom home was built partially on the footprint and foundation walls of an existing bungalow in order to bypass the zoning restrictions. The presence of a mature tree, protected by the by-law, just a few feet from the house, imposed various challenges to the design team and the owner’s creativity.  Through several design alternatives, a successful layout was achieved for this classy home.  The centrally located 2 storey open space, with large skylight dome, brings daylight throughout both floors and emphasizes the perception of the fine interior detailing.
